TOWN OF ORIENTA
REGULAR BOARD MEETING
March 14, 2026

The meeting was called to order at 8:00 am by Chairman Mark Hoefling. Members present: Hoefling, Supervisors James Bailey and Troy Kavajecz, Clerk Clyde Clauson and Treasurer John Tribys.

Approval of the Agenda: Bailey moved, Kavajecz seconded approval of the agenda. Motion carried.

Pledge of Allegiance

Minutes: Motion by Kavajecz, second by Bailey to approve the minutes of the regular board meeting of February 14, 2026. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report: General fund – $281,421.47, highway fund – $22,627.65 for a total cash on hand of $304,049.12. Motion by Bailey, second by Kavajecz to receive the treasurer’s report. Motion carried.

Road Report: Activities – servicing the roads by plowing, steaming culverts, other maintenance as needed.

OLD BUSINESS

1. Ambulance Report: Mark gave the report.

NEW BUSINESS

1. South Shore Ambulance Contract: Kavajecz moved, Bailey seconded approval of the contract. Motion carried.
2. Local Small Structure Improvement Program: The board continued discussing applying for state funding to repair deteriorating culverts between 6’-20’. Kavajecz moved, Hoefling seconded that the board authorize James Bailey to contact the engineering firms that had offered to assist the town in its application for LSSIP grants for two culverts on Airport Road and recommend which firm to choose. In consultation with the rest of the board, a contract with the recommended firm will be developed. Motion carried.

INFORMATION: Bayfield County Community Wellness Initiative information was shared with the board.

Payment of Vouchers: Vouchers were signed, and bills were paid.

The next regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors will be Saturday, April 11, 2026. Following a motion, the meeting was adjourned.
